Bright Philip Donkor

Bright Philip Donkor is a versatile and results-oriented media practitioner with over 5 years of experience crafting impactful content across print, digital, and video platforms for The Daily Statesman Newspaper (Ghana’s oldest mainstream). He is the current News Editor of the Newspaper.

He also serves as media monitoring and communication officer at the Danguah Institute, a public policy, research, and media training center in Accra, Ghana. Born with a passion for writing, he embarked on his academic journey earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies (Journalism) at University of Media, Arts and Communication – UniMAC, formerly the Ghana Institute of Journalism.

He is a prolific columnist, social and political commentator, gender advocate, and distinguished writer. His incisive, thought-provoking articles have illuminated key social, gender, political, educational,and economic issues across numerous media platforms, including Daily Statesman, Daily Graphic, Ghana News Agency, MyJoyOnline, AsaaseOnline, GBC Online, GhanaWeb, ILAPI, Modern Ghana, and many more.

Bright has served as a reviewer for the book Revolution and Democracy in Ghana: The Politics of Jerry Rawlings, written by Emeritus Professor Jeffrey Haynes, Professor Emeritus of Politics at London Metropolitan University, UK.

Bright was honored with the Best Article Writer Award from the African Journalists for Economic Opportunity Training (AJEOT), under the auspices of the Institute of Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI), Accra. He is also a member of the Media, Communication, and Advocacy Network (MCAN), a coalition of media Consultants established by the UNFPA Ghana Country Office.

Expanding his repertoire beyond media, Bright holds a Certificate of Proficiency in Earthmoving Equipment, from the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), Government of Ghana, and the Chafas Institute of Practical Studies, Accra.
